讲座摘要:

The seminar aims to provide an overview of complex dynamic phenomena occurring in mechanical systems with diverse natures and characteristics. It explores the impact of perturbing factors and imperfections on systems characterized by symmetries, both in shaping and altering their route to chaos. Additionally, it delves into the emergence of chaos and its effects on symmetry breaking. The seminar is organized in three parts: i) overview of the research activities; ii) gear vibrations; iii) dynamics and stability of shells.

Gear vibrations. Gear vibrations are the focus of this study, which examines two types of gears: planetary gearboxes and spiral bevel gear pairs. Numerical models are constructed, incorporating factors such as backlash and time-varying stiffness, to explore the effects of nonlinearity and other complexities. The dynamic behavior is thoroughly analyzed, with particular emphasis on chaotic dynamics and the impact of misalignments on the dynamic response.

Dynamics and stability of shells. The dynamics and stability of shells are examined in this study. Nonlinear models of thin-walled shells are explored, with an emphasis on meshless methods and multimodal reduced-order analysis. The discussion also addresses the influence of imperfections on both linear and nonlinear dynamics. Additionally, experimental findings are used to explore the interaction between shells and non-Newtonian fluids.
